On the subject of the Queen of Hearts Riddle says, “One can surmise that she was unceasingly vigilant” and “Such attentiveness befits a ruler,” and Azul says that Riddle himself is “very observant.”
Azul compliments Riddle on remaining “levelheaded and observant under pressure” during Beanfest after Riddle takes inventory of Azul’s equipment after being ambushed and makes the connection that Azul should not be in possession of so many supplies at that point in the game.
During Book 6 Azul again comments on Riddle’s vigilance after Riddle is able note a sound behind them during a phantom attack: a piece of cage thrown by the phantom, meant to distract them.
During the first NBC event Riddle comments on a decorative bat being 160 degrees relative to the ground rather than 180 degrees and Jamil says, “It’s kind of incredible you even noticed that. There’s such a thing as being TOO precise…”
During Book 2 Cater interrupts a conversation between Trey and Riddle in order to hurry the group out of Trey’s room. After they leave Riddle accurately surmises that Cater had been wishing to share information with them that he did want to reveal in front of Trey.
After hearing from Kalim how he has “made it a rule not to touch anything other than food Jamil’s made personally,” Riddle makes the connection between Kalim’s status as the eldest son of a large family witth vast wealth and his history with poison, quietly reflecting, “…could it be that you were poisoned?”
After Trey explains how he feels sorry for Jade being at the whims of Azul and Floyd, Riddle asks, “How in the world do you get that impression from looking at him?,” following with, “When you evaluate others, you must observe them more closely.”
After Rook recites a poem to a ghost guard during the Phantom Bride event, Riddle alone notices that, when the first letters of Rook’s poem are put together, they spell “I Love You.”
