Ruggie and Floyd

Ruggie has a large role in Vargas camp, coming up with the plan to take out the Vargas Monster and bargaining with Floyd to earn his support. He promises to do “any one thing” that Floyd asks of him, “as long as it doesn’t put my life, finances or future prospects at risk. And I’ll only do it one time…no, that’s too vague. I’ll do anything that can be done in 30 minutes!”

Ruggie’s unique magic provides the group with the final step they need in order to win Vargas’ challenge, and afterwards it is Ruggie who realizes that Deuce was not among the students that Vargas kidnapped and then released.

Towards the end of the event Ruggie declares he would be happy to sacrifice the Spelldrive club in exchange for enough time to dig out magestones to sell, and Deuce refuses to leave the mines without him. Annoyed, Floyd calls in the favor that Ruggie owes him for the part he played in capture the Vargas monster, and Ruggie is forced to abandon the magestones and leave the mine.

Floyd has a voice line about not being able to skip practice for the Port Fest performance because Ruggie will “sniff (him) out,” while Ruggie has a voice line about fishing in the ocean and feeling a pull on his line, only to realize it was Floyd pulling on his line and not a fish at all.
