Silver and Protecting, Vil and Riddle

Silver is very big on protecting others: He refuses to allow Ortho to go off by himself during Spectral Soiree due to the danger of whoever might be lurking nearby and when no one during Vargas Camp is willing to leave the fire to check on Jamil’s missing group, he goes alone to help them.

He also tries to save Riddle during Beanfest after their group is ambushed in a surprise attack, and at the start of Fairy Gala IF he willingly volunteers to participate in the event, asking for permission to join the group in order to improve relations between humans and fae.

During Spectral Soiree he asks Jamil to cover Jack in a blanket (“I didn’t bring a blanket with me. Neither did you, for that matter.”) and promises that they will make sure to avoid any vital organs when they resort to violence in order to exorcise him.

Silver’s insistence on personally taking responsibility for the actions of his group and physically protecting his fellow students (with his own body, when necessary) also comes into play in other events.

During Fairy Gala IF Vil instructs Silver to picture something beautiful, saying that even someone like him with no interest in fashion should have at least one or two things they consider beautiful.

At first nothing comes to mind, but then Silver has a realization. Vil asks him what beautiful thing he is imagining, and Silvers answers, “Vil-senpai. Vil-senpai was the first thing I thought of when I heard the word beautiful. There is nothing else that comes to mind.”

As fellow equestrian club members, Silver and Riddle have the occasional overlap. They also participate in the Culinary Crucible together, with Silver saying that he only participated in the first place because Riddle invited him so that he might “instill some discipline” and help fix his “dozing habit.”

Silver compliments Riddle’s magical prowess, saying that someone “as capable and magically proficient as (Riddle) would take to Briar Valley like a bird to the air, honestly”, in a conversation about how Silver grew up without access to electricity.

At the conclusion of the event Silver and Riddle agree to go out shopping together for cook books. Riddle says that “Silver is surprisingly good at cooking.”

In a birthday vignette Riddle says that while he respects Silver’s horseback riding skills he cannot stand Silver’s habit of suddenly falling asleep, recounting a time that he and Sebek had to carry a sleeping Silver to his next class.

Silver respects Riddle’s horseback-riding abilities as well, saying that Riddle is even more skilled than he is in terms of handling finesse and that competing with Riddle has helped him improve (but he expresses surprise at Malleus’ trust in Riddle’s abilities during Phantom Bride).

Silver says that Riddle gave him a horse-grooming glove for his birthday.
