Jamil and Grim

Jamil has more interactions with Grim than maybe most non-Heartslabyul students, teasing him about not being able to eat onions as “I was told cats couldn’t eat them.” (Grim: “Good thing I AIN’T A CAT, THEN!”)

During the visit to Silk City Jamil tells the group that Silky Melons might be the perfect snack for everyone as, “Over time, people started saying that if you shared one of these melons with someone, your friendship or romance would last forever.” Grim asks, “But why’s it the perfect snack for us?,” and Jamil responds, “Simple—if things run smoothly in the group, it makes less work for me. That goes double for you, Grim.”

In Fleur City Jamil tells Grim that he spoke to the staff of a barber shop and they recommended a hairstyle that was “especially popular in Fleur City back in the day” and presents him with wood shavings. “In the old days, they would shape these to look like hair and affix them to people’s heads. Want to try it?” (Grim: “Yeah, right! I ain’t dumb. I know nobody would put wood shavings on their head!”)

When Grim tries to draw out plans for Halloween during the NBC event Jamil comments, “I didn’t know it was possible to take this long writing one page. I’m actually impressed.” (Grim: “SHADDUP! All of you, pipe down, you’re distractin’ me!”) Leona comments on Grim’s attitude and Jamil agrees saying, “Clearly Ramshackle’s lacking in proper guidance from upperclassmen.”

Grim provides instructions during Jamil’s fights against Malleus’ darkness army in Book 7 by saying, “Jamil, behind you! Now right! Quick, right! C’mon, what’re you doin’?! I meant MY right, not yours!,” to which Jamil responds, “Would you SHUT UP? How am I supposed to know what ‘your’ right is?”

Grim says, “That’s no way to talk to the guy supportin’ you! I was helpin’ too! Where’s MY thanks?!,” and Jamil seems to ignore him, telling the prefect, “I’m counting on you to keep Grim in line.”

Jamil has voice lines of, “I can sympathize with the daily antics you must undoubtedly endure from Grim,” and, “I don’t see Grim around. Did he wander off? Ugh. You and I share the same babysitting struggles.”
