During the Wish Upon a Star event Jamil wishes, “to take a trip by myself.” When Grim does not understand the appeal Trey explains on Jamil’s behalf, saying, “Alone time’s hard to come by when you’re at school. That’s not to say hanging out with people isn’t fun, just that sometimes you want a little peace and quiet.”
Jamil agrees, and reveals that he does not actually have anywhere in particular that he wants to travel to, saying, “Just once, I want to go someplace where no one knows me and kick back for a while. I don’t see that happening before I graduate, though. Maybe I’ll peruse some travel magazines in the meantime; make sure I’m ready if my wish comes true.”
During the Firelit Sky event Jamil says that “Middle school was the first point in (his) life where (he) had some time and space to (himself),” and we hear an example of how difficult it is for Jamil to have any privacy when Kalim reveals that, during Jamil’s breaks from his job as a child-servant, Kalim would use security feeds to seek him out (Jamil: “Don’t abuse your privileges like that! No wonder you always found me so fast”).
Trey comments, “Jamil can’t catch a break even on his breaks…”
After Idia excuses himself from Jamil’s Platinum Jacket vignette Jamil reflects, “I was just thinking it’d be nice to be left alone again anyway,” and he has a voice line about wanting to spend his private time wisely, as there are many things he wishes to do.
During Halloween Jamil tells Kalim, “Your complete lack of vigilance is exactly why I can’t have time to myself.”
Jamil seems to appreciate it when his privacy is respected, saying just before his Bloom birthday interview that he hopes his interviewer will not be “someone prone to asking about private matters…”
In turn, it seems that Jamil also respects the privacy of others: Idia says that would choose Jamil to go with him if he were to be stranded on a deserted island, explaining, “He’ll say hello but won’t drag me into any awful small talk, which tells me he understands what lines not to cross.”
Jamil is Lilia’s Bloom birthday interviewer, and when Lilia encourages him not to pursue a certain line of questioning (“Don’t sweat little details like that”) Jamil does not pressure him for additional information, saying, “Seems like a big detail to me…but fine. I won’t pursue it further.”
