The dorm spirit of Scarabia is said to be mindfulness, and Jamil refers to himself as “considerate,” as does Silver, though in Book 6 Leona tells him, “You’re not being thoughtful or careful. You’re just bein’ pushy.”
There are many examples in the game of Jamil being mindful/considerate, such as at the end of Spectral Soiree when he notices that Epel is not enjoying the party and offers to teach him how to dance, later telling him, “I’m glad your Halloween didn’t end on a sour note.”
During Firelit Sky Cater buys a scarf for himself that Jamil recommends (“You put a lot of thought into it”), and Jamil volunteers taking a photo of Cater wearing it for him to post to Magicam. He also offers a wet to Najma before she eats in the market (Cater: “It’s a little overbearing, if you ask me”).
Jamil’s birthday present for Cater is “simply skateboard decals” despite how Jamil has never been directly told that Cater skateboards, explaining, “I heard it from Kalim. He mentioned at one point that you were good at it. I checked your Magicam account and saw that you posted about getting a new board…So I picked out some designs I thought you might like, and made sure the colors matched the board in the pictures you put up.” Cater responds, “I’m p. sure I mentioned that to Kalim ages ago,” and, “You took the board color AND my personal style into account? Amazing!”
It is Jamil who comes up with the concept for the Scarabia Halloween display and tells Kalim to say, “Our decor is meant to send a special message…We want everyone to be mindful of our limited resources and take a good look at the environment here on Sage’s Island. Our hope is to inspire visitors to strive for a society where man and nature happily coexist. That’s Scarabia’s theme: a sustainable Halloween.”
During Spectral Soiree, Silver begins telling a story from his childhood that gets interrupted by ghosts. After a battle Jamil urges him to continue the story and Silver responds, “Are you trying to get to know me better…? You must think Jack won’t be comfortable working with us otherwise. Another example of Scarabian foresight…Your thoughtfulness has amazed me yet again.” (Jamil: “Yes, sure, whatever. Just keep going.”)
Jack Skellington and Sally invite Jamil to stay behind in Halloweentown rather than return to his own world, and when Jamil declines with the explanation, “Back home, there are a great many things that require me to run smoothly. I’m concerned about the people I left behind,” Jack responds, “It does go to show just how thoughtful you are. It’s no wonder people need you.”
Being mindful of Sally’s feelings and how she has “gone out of her way to help (them),” Jamil agrees to taste a soup that sends the other students cautioning him against it, with Trey saying, “That’s very considerate of you…but you shouldn’t risk yourself.” Jamil praises the soup to Sally, even asking to base other dishes for the party on its flavor, only to realize he’d been lying to spare her feelings and had never tasted it at all.
When the mayor decides to go check on Jack Skellington, Jamil volunteers to go with him, saying he wants to ask Jack’s thoughts on the meal that Sally made for him but wouldn’t be able to in front of Sally (Jade: “You’re quite discreet, Jamil”).
It is Jamil who notices when Skully becomes “kind of forlorn” after Jack rejects his idea for Halloween, saying, “I can see how he’d feel disappointed. We’ll be working together to prep for Halloween, so we should play nice and try to soften the blow of rejection,” and offering to incorporate Skully’s plans into their own, as he “went to the trouble of making it.”
When Skully says, “…You’re a kindly soul, but no. You needn’t concern yourself on my account,” Riddle and Sebek say, “If you say so” and “Perfect, I was just running out of paper. If you don’t need yours anymore, I could use the backs to write on,” and Jamil responds, “Have you people ever heard of humility or tact?!”
When Skully becomes upset later on it is again Jamil who goes to make sure he is okay, saying, “You looked a little off, unless I’m just reading too much into things.” Skully responds, “You’re a quite considerate individual, Jamil.”
Jamil also seems to be conscientious, voluntarily excusing himself from at least three different vignettes in order to not inconvenience the people he had been speaking with.
Jamil has a voice line of, “You say I remain a voice of reason no matter what the situation? Is that how you see me? Well, I’m honored.”
