During Book 4 Jamil cautions Kalim for setting a bad example for the students of Scarabia, and when Kalim begins to cry after losing the VDC to Royal Sword Academy Jamil says, “Remember, you’re supposed to be the Asim family heir. Have a little dignity.”
When Floyd teases Jack about his New Year’s attire Jamil scolds him with, “Ever consider conducting yourself in a way that befits your dignified attire?,” then turning to Malleus to say, “Actually, speaking of dignified—that outfit suits you well, Malleus. Very stately.”
When Ruggie expresses interest in the clothes they will be receiving from Noble Bell College and, specifically, how expensive they are, Jamil interjects, “You’re not supposed to ask how much a present costs!”
There is a similar interaction during the Tapis Rouge event, when Azul wonders, “How much do you suppose these outfits would cost if we’d ordered them ourselves?,” and Jamil responds, “Best not to think about that.” Azul follows with, “Come now, you can’t tell me you aren’t the least bit curious,” and Jamil reluctantly agrees (“…maybe a little”), but when Ace says, “If I knew how much this outfit cost that’d just be more ammo to brag about it with!,” Jamil replies, “This conversation is taking a turn for the tacky. Let’s just move on.”
When Ace points out how they cannot afford event “off-the-rack” stuff from Luxe, let along special-order accessories, Grim asks, “Is that ’cause you’re poor?,” and Jamil responds, “No need to put it that bluntly.”
When Grim boldly greets Vil’s father Jamil scolds him with, “Show some manners!,” also instructing Grim on how to properly fold and place his napkin during lunch, and telling Ace not to pick up his plate as he eats.
Jamil’s tsum seems to bow in greeting to the students of Scarabia, who describe it as having an “air of refinement,” saying, that they can “totally see the resemblance” to Jamil.
Jamil tells the tsum it really is calm, and “not to mention unfailingly polite.”
Jamil disapproves of Malleus using the “omae” form of “you” to refer to representatives from other schools at the Noble Bell College social, and also does not react well to Najma referring to him with an improper form of the word “this.” More here ▶︎
